When you go out partying, you want to let loose – you don’t want to think about work or any of the other stresses of your day-to-day life. All you want to do is relax, have fun with your friends and leave all your responsibilities until the next day.
Not only is it fun to do this from time to time to relieve a bit of stress, but it’s really important too. However, the most important part is making sure that when you go out, you do so safely.
Driving is always the first thing that comes up, and rightfully so. Drinking and driving is never a good idea, for obvious reasons – driving drunk is incredibly dangerous and potentially life threatening. You risk not only your own life, but those of others too.
However, there are other reasons that you should opt not to drive when you go out partying. Here are a few reasons you should rather pay for a ride rather than jump behind the wheel.
You Want to Relax
Even if you’re not drinking – you’re having a sober night out – partying still puts you in a different mindset. You’re relaxed, you’re having as much fun as when you play at Black Lotus casino, and your mind is on having a good time. Therefore, being responsible may not be your top priority. So rather than having to drive home at the end of the night, and potentially be responsible for not only yourself but your friends too, rather allow yourself to relax completely and let somebody else do the driving.
Other People May Be Driving Dangerously
When you’re on the road late at night, you risk being on the road alongside other people who may not have made the right decisions when it comes to drinking and driving. So if you can avoid driving at all, that would be best – if it’s safe and reliable, use public transport like a train or a tube. Alternatively, avoid driving too far, even if you’re not behind the wheel, late at night. Rather, opt to stay at a friend’s place closer to where you’re partying and choose to drive home the next day instead.
You’re Probably Going to Be Tired
When it comes to getting behind the wheel, being drunk or under the influence of other substances isn’t the only thing to be worried about. In fact, many will argue that the most dangerous thing of all is being tired.
Driving while tired, whether it’s a little bit or a lot, can seriously impair your senses and result in you being far less alert. Your reaction times will be severely affected and your ability to drive properly and safely will simply not be what it normally is. Of course, the most extreme scenario would involve you falling asleep behind the wheel, but it doesn’t always have to be that extreme.
Of course, it’s no secret that if you’re out partying, even if you aren’t drinking, you’re likely to be out late and be tired. Thus, the best solution is always not to drive home and make alternative plans instead.
